Right of frame mountain has the snow.
Today has been busy. I left my place at 8.20 for the school where we met up to drive to western Telemark. First we stopped at Eidsborg to see the stav church. It is actually the smallest one in Norway.
These protect the entrance on either side.
Fun fact: My Norwegian teacher's husband is actually the last one to tar the church. This church dates to about 1250-1280. The inside is incredible.
There is also a museum on the grounds. Christianity had/has a hard time taking on in Scandinavia. Worship of older deities continued(s). These were from homes in the area. Øyvågsgudane (The Øyvåg Gods) on the left and Flotebuguden (The Flotebu God) on the right.
Need an ornately rosemaled chest?
We then continued to Dalen to Dalen Hotel.
I felt far under dressed one inside. The King and Queen have stayed here on multiple occasions.
During the German occupation the building was used by the Nazi party as a place to stay, to take care of wounded, and this room was turned into a potato field.
They literally took the floor up and grew potatoes here.
Amazing considering how it looks now...including wine.
From the hotel we left for Tarjei Vesaas' Family farm.
The farm remains in the same family now for about 500 years. The main house is just as old. It felt like they live in a museum.
I really did not take many pictures.
We were also in the barn where one family member weaves on machines.
They also sell sausages made of sheep stuff. It is smoked in here.
See this video for additional images and things I saw today.
I finished the trips off today with a ride from Grivi to the base of Gygrestolen.
I was out late last night planning a trip.
I had an exam in Norwegian today after all the forementioned. Æk!
