The Lake

I have spent the past week or so in North Idaho at the lake and in Spokane. It was very good.
Wednesday I drove from  Olympia direct to the lake. The drive through the basin was incredibly hot and dry but I made it without any issue. I met the new neighbours on the downhill side from Issaquah and sort of just hung out.
Thursday I started opening things in preparation for my cousin Rachel and friend Michael to come by for the weekend. I also rode around on the bike mostly north.

Friday was more of the same with Kayaking, biking, and swimming. Friday evening ~around 7p.m. I ran off to the store to buy groceries and met up with Rachel as she was driving up from Pullman. A+ for bringing grapes, watermelon, corn, and beans! Rachel followed me in to the lake and after settling in shot the breeze then hit the sack. *No guns or Seattle banned plastic bags actually involved.

Saturday we woke up and did Snoqualmie falls pancakes with mango passion fruit syrup. Rachel ran, I worked on the inflation of inflatables then caught up on the bike. We ran/rode just to the south end of the upper lake. A great opportunity to see some of the other parts of the water. Swimming was required after such physical exertion. Lunch was BBQ hot dogs on Potato bread buns with watermelon and other random stuff. Michael came in after lunch where we shot the breeze again and decided we needed to get in the water again. Michael and I were in the kayak while Rachel was in tow behind with an inflatable chair. We kayaked the north end of lower Twin. Afterward we swam off the boat docks in the bathwater. Dinner was epic with BBQ chicken burgers, BBQ corn, BBQ cucumber, beans, grapes, watermelon, BBQ sauce, ketchup, mustard, salad, chips, drank, milk, etc. After dinner was a jolly good game of croquet followed by fishing off the docks. Not much luck in fishing and not overly surprising considering bait consisted of Powerbait from 2008 (rhymes), bread, bbq chicken, chewed cinnamon chewing gum. But the fish were biting! To finish the night out we roasted marshmallows on the fire and did s'mores before Michael had to take off for Spokane.

Sunday Rachel and I woke up and had cereal and oatmeal. The Webbers were still in Pullman from dropping James off for school and Rachel wanted to catch them before they headed back to Puyallup so she took off for Pullman just before noon. I kayaked more of the lake on Sunday going to the south end of the upper lake through the channel.

Monday I went to Coeur d' Alene. I hiked Tubb's hill twice and swam on my own private white sandy beach with crystal clear warm water. I walked town and several of the neighbourhoods. I walked the boardwalk, and I hung out on the city beach and park. Glorious. It would be nice to live in CDA. I drove back to our lake place around dinner blowing through the panhandle of Idaho in my pick me up truck on dirt farm roads at mach5, dust trail miles back, and blowing by the farms. Zen.
Once back at our lake place I swam more, watched the Absent Minded Professor, and read.

Tuesday was shut down day at the lake. There is not a lot to say about that other than I will miss Idaho. Once the place was shut down and winterized I drove to Spokane/Nine Mile Falls to my Grandparent's house where we had dinner. After dinner I met up with Michael and we carpooled to Brown's addition in Spokane to meet up with the Wheelsport South guys and ride. We ended up doing ~18 miles into Riverside with awesome dust, water, muck, rocks, and the river. There were about 7 of us or so and it was a great ride. I came back to the Grents house to shower leaving a mud river in the shower tub.

Wednesday I woke up and drove back to Oly with my loaded down truck. As no surprise it was hot in central WA. Today Oly is very wet and rain. A nice cool down to a hot week in every sense of the word.

Let the pictures roll
