Yesterday was Finnish National Day (independence).
It is typical to watch a broadcast from the palace at
Helsinki where the president and his wife greet all the guests. It is basically
2 hours of hand shaking and greeting with commentary and random interviews.
Sort of interesting when you make up rules for games to be played based on what
happens with dress color, someone tripping, the man walking away without his
wife accompaniment, etc.
The gals spent a few hours cooking. Good stuff and all from scratch. We had about 15 or so of us together. Finland, U.S., Slovakia, Germany, Wales, Britain, Austria, Poland, Spain in one room. Cool.
A friend of the girls back in Finland had his birthday so we all recorded a happy birthday video in Finnish and sent it to him. Hilarious.
Good weather yesterday as well. I certainly do love living in snow country.

Young kid's schools spend a lot of time outside.
This is another one of the classrooms.
It is common to let the kids run off into the woods.
Work continues on a presentation and studying for a final. The final for Nordic Model takes place on Monday and is a 4-5 hour exam where we write a paper. It is the grade for the course. No notes, no phones, nothing may enter the room but ourselves.
It is very regulated with a proctor administering the exam.
The presentation is for the Telemark Identity course and has to do with skiing. Specifically Telemark skiing and declines in outdoor activity participation among youth.
So much works in this picture.
